Description: Ride from the Gold Coast to the Barossa Valley, via the Great Ocean Road. Scale the heights and see the sights across four states of Australia as we make our way from the tourist mecca of the Gold Coast to the country haven of the Barossa Valley. Along the way we will visit some of Australia’s most iconic regions, climbing to the heights of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales and touring along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.
Shine up your motorbikes, rev those engines and join us on our inaugural ten-day Variety Ride 4 Kids as we take to the wide open roads and raise much needed funds for sick, disadvantaged and special needs children.
What is the Variety Ride 4 Kids?
The Variety Ride for kids is the latest ten day adventure on the Variety – the Children’s Charity events calendar. Previously our Ride 4 Kids events have been held with great success over a weekend timeline and in 2018 we are embarking on our most challenging journey yet, tackling the Blue Mountains, the Great Ocean Road and finishing up in the Barossa Valley.
Who can take part?
Entry to the Ride 4 Kids is limited to those over the age of 18, who have enough cunning resolve and determination to persuade sponsors, family and friends, to throw their support behind you and come up with the donations required to meet the minimum fundraising requirements for the event. All road rules apply, so participants must have adequate licenses.
Are there any restrictions on Motorcycles?
- Riders wishing to participate in Ride 4 Kids, need to be mindful of the following requirements:
- Your bike must be registered and roadworthy
- Your bike must have an engine size of at least 250cc
- You must have an R or RE class motor bike license (no learners)
- You are responsible for your own third party insurance
- Entrants must be over 18 years of age
As with all Variety events, safety is paramount. Our experienced team will include medical personnel, knowledgeable mechanics and motor bike recovery trailers.
Why do we have a Ride 4 Kids event?
The Ride 4 Kids is staged by Variety to raise funds to assist in bringing about an improved quality of life for children in need throughout Queensland. In 2015, Variety – the Children’s Charity directly impacted 16,230 Kids in Queensland and granted $1.8 million in equipment and services. The proceeds from the events like the Ride 4 Kids and many others that Variety hosts each year are instrumental in granting these funds and assisting these children.
Where does the money go?
Funds raised are granted to children who are sick, disadvantaged and who have special needs by way of goods and services. In this way Variety is able to fill a vital gap between what families, schools and communities are able to afford and what our children need to lead engaged and fulfilling lives.
In addition, each entry pledges to raise a minimum of $750 as a donation to Variety. These funds have tax benefits. A provisions levy will be advised in due course covering each participants evening meals plus merchandise kit, which is payable per person prior to the event.
